Cody From seeing this process on the blog, a question I will have on Tuesday from what I see of this post is: how does your process generated these drawings which gather space to make place?
In fundamentals, we make models and draw them literally to makes places because our intentions are in search for what makes a place or an idea. …This is what I think I see here.
Later with our understanding of place, our process is in search of constructability of ideas- artfully or literally. It is in search of other was of seeing the premise or thesis.
…being unaware of this precise thesis premise but assume it has to do with overlaying different ways of seeing to reach a common ground… Technology offers the opportunity to facilitate ways of seeing and making those overlays one could only imagine…this includes a speedy way of seeing space.
Continuing the process from your photo assembly, there should be another step …applying materials to those photo assemblies and creating a 3d material model….even before this from the photo assembly to applying material bit maps to recreate the photo-assembly realistically.
So photo assembly, Photoshop reality making, 3dmaterial model from Photoshop reality, 3d model then cuts the plans and section shown here.
Eventually the material questions goes from the imagination of the senses to the question of how to construct. This is what I under a thesis to be.
Even if this is not obtainable by Tuesday, a quick try with certain corners or pieces of the photo assembly is possible to show the premise of process to outcome. Have not seen a thesis that does this in awhile.
needs an edit--- Continuing the process from your photo assembly, there should be another step …applying materials to those photo assemblies and creating a 3d material model... to recreate the photo-assembly realistically.
I was about to begin a last physical model. Should I focus on that or the idea of material on photos in 3d with site? I think this could be the start of the next step though.
"…being unaware of this precise thesis premise but assume it has to do with overlaying different ways of seeing to reach a common ground…"
This is the root of the concern. The study is about multiplicity and ways of seeing. The resultant combinations of the spaces are the “blending” of “elements” related to the programmatic forces in each of the places. i.e. cross-ing, recess(mihrab) and object(arc). The gathering of space is made via the absence or the mutually shared experience of form, sequence and an organized event. Its about finding form through a study of commonalities, perceptions, and multiple points of view. I agree the photo montages and material research is the next step, but perhaps they are related more specifically to the context of the site in accord with historical developmental precedent.

top seems like finding place through shadow
